A new documentary to be released on April 22, 2013 claims to have retrieved the body of a real extraterrestrial, and that an autopsy and DNA testing have proven it to be unlike any human or other living being in existence.  Adding to the credibility of these statements, along with the validity of the documentary itself, is the head of the project and accomplished medical physician, Dr. Steven Greer, and the Award-Winning director of the film, Amardeep Kaleka.  You can watch the theatrical trailer right here:

There certainly was something striking about the image of this “supposed” alien: although it shared some of the similar features of the highly-exaggerated and fictionalized extraterrestrials in movies (like a disproportionately large skull and thin skin with protruding bones), there was something about it, something alluring, something…genuine.

700,000 million views: that is the number of views currently tracking underneath the YouTube video for the official theatrical trailer for the “Sirius” documentary.  Pretty impressive, given the general public’s disinterest, disbelief, and overall just dissing of any and all things UFO’s.   And hey, I can’t blame them: a lot of the UFO movement has become a form of “conspiratainment” and hoaxing, proving that even the most secluded members of society (the basement-dwelling nerds who more often than not tend to represent the pro-UFO community) have their own cravings for drama in life.

But putting aside all the hoaxes, all the exaggerations, and all the unfounded conspiracies, we can still look at the sheer numbers to determine the validity of extraterrestrial life, and whether or not they’ve actually visited us in the past.  Given the size of the universe, the number of stars and galaxies, and the estimated age of this giant pool of cosmic dust we call our “reality”, it is not unlikely that there are other advanced life forms out there, and even that they may have visited us before.

So, what happens if this “Sirius” documentary is released on April 22, 2013, and it turns out to be a compelling and extremely convincing unveiling of a medically-verifiable (through DNA testing, as the filmmakers claim) fact that, yes indeed, an alien from another part of the universe has been found here on Earth?  Now, I’m not just talking about “pretty good evidence”, and I’m not talking about high-def footage of lights in the night sky, and I’m not even talking about blurry camcorder captures of an alien in someone’s backyard (not).   No: I’m talking about hardcore, reality-defining, paradigm-shifting, mind-blowing evidence of a real alien in a lab that, beyond any doubt, is in fact an alien from another part of the universe?  Could you imagine what that will do to our perceptions of the cosmos?

It’s always fascinated me how we can talk a lot about paradigm shifts and “awakenings”, but what really do these look, or feel like?  Just imagine what this documentary might do to the perceptions that humans have of themselves, of their lives, of their world, and of their entire existence.  Might we see religions collapse into the dust of dogma as humans break the chains of egocentric, anthropomorphized worldviews?  Might we see tribalistic boundaries between nations dissolve as the world, empowered and enlightened by the realization that there is much more to the world than this little globe we call “earth”, comes together in an unprecedented display of unity and love?

Or might we see something different?

Might there instead be widespread cognitive dissonance, where humans—conflicted between old worldviews and an intimidating, implicative new one—use denial at all costs to preserve the comfort of old perspectives they were raised with?  Might religious institutions, desperate now beyond all previous means, call their emotionally-controlled followers to unite against what could only be understood as the workings of the “anti-Christ”?  Or…might governments, physically and financially and geographically dependent on a population of people who tunnel-vision through life with nothing more than marriage and retirement on their minds, begin to mobilize and assemble their militaristic limbs, creating the ultimate hostile environment that will ironically convince religious people that, indeed, the end times are upon us?

I don’t know.

What I do know…is this: what you resist, persists.  Age-old adages almost never lie, and they can certainly provide crucial insights when life becomes challenging.  What you resist, persists.  If “Sirius” turns out to be unprecedented, near-conclusive evidence that, indeed, humans have been visited by advanced beings from other parts of the universe, then I will be sure to accept this new paradigm, instead of resist it.  It is the resistance that causes the cognitive dissonance and internal blockage that ensnares people with compunction and neurosis.

I guess we’ll all find out more once the documentary is released, though if you follow on Twitter Dr. Steven Greer, the head of this documentary-project, you’ll be privy to numerous updates regarding the DNA tests that are near completion.  Most recently, he tweeted: “CT Scan [of the alien] show internal organs- specimen most certainly not a hoax- although we do not know WHAT it is!
